Braiding can feel intimidating, but I promise, it’s all about starting with the right foundations. Here are 6 easy styles that look like you spent hours!

The Classic Three-Strand: Master this first! Divide hair into three sections. Cross the right section over the middle, then the left over the new middle. Repeat.

The Fishtail: Looks complex, is deceptively simple. Split hair into two sections. Take a tiny piece from the outside of the left section, cross it over and add it to the inside of the right section. Repeat from the other side.

The Twist-Braid: Perfect for half-up styles. Simply take two sections, twist them around each other, and secure. It’s elegant and takes 30 seconds.

The Rope Braid: Twist two sections individually clockwise. Then, twist them around each other counter-clockwise. The twist-versus-counter-twist creates a gorgeous, defined spiral.

The Milkmaid Braid: Create two pigtail braids (any style!). Cross them over the top of your head and pin them in place for a gorgeous, boho crown.

The Pull-Through Ponytail: This looks like a complex braid but requires zero skill. Make a ponytail, but only pull the hair halfway through on the last loop. Then, make another ponytail an inch below it and repeat the process. Connect them all down the length of your hair!
