How to make beautiful Fabric tassals

Tassels are the ultimate bohemian accessory, and making them from fabric scraps is incredibly satisfying. They add movement and a gorgeous, artisanal finish to everything from keychains to kurta hems. I remember using silk sari scraps to make tassels for a curtain tie-back; the colors were breathtaking.

Your Simple Step-by-Step Guide:

Cut the Strips: Cut long strips from your fabric. The length determines the tassel length, and the width affects fluffiness. For a standard tassel, strips about 1-2 inches wide and 12 inches long work well.

Bundle & Tie: Stack a pile of strips together. Take one extra strip and fold it in half over the top of the bundle, creating a loop. Pull the ends through this loop and tighten to secure the top, creating a hanger.

Wrap & Secure: Take another strip and wrap it tightly around the top of the tassel, about an inch down from the top. Tie it securely and tuck the ends in. Trim the bottom edges to even them out.

Now you have a gorgeous, custom tassel! Use them in groups for a bigger impact.
