How to do this Rope Braided Side Bun hair style
This isn’t your average messy bun. The rope braid adds incredible texture and sophistication. I remember using this for a client’s wedding—it photographed stunningly!
The Key Technique: The Rope Braid
This is simpler than a traditional braid. Take two sections of hair. Twist each one clockwise individually. Now, cross them over each other counter-clockwise. That’s it! The twisting and counter-twisting is what creates that beautiful, defined spiral.
Steps to the Side Bun:
Brush all hair to one side.
Create a low ponytail on your chosen side and secure with an elastic.
Make the Rope Braid: Split the ponytail into two sections. Twist the right section tightly clockwise. Twist the left section tightly clockwise. Now, cross the right section over the left, counter-clockwise. Continue this all the way down and secure the end with a small elastic.
Form the Bun: Wrap the rope braid around the base of the ponytail. Don’t just coil it; tuck the end under and use bobby pins to secure it firmly from all sides.
Finish: Gently pull on the braided loops to make the bun larger and more voluminous. This style is effortlessly chic!
