How to Make a Pom Pom Door Mat With Woolen
Ditch that boring, store-bought mat! A handmade pom pom door mat is a burst of cozy, happy energy for your home. I made a rainbow-colored one for my front door, and it never fails to get a smile from guests. It’s a fantastic way to use up all those woolen yarn scraps you’ve been saving.

You’ll need: A sturdy canvas or non-slip mat for the base, a TON of wool yarn in your chosen colors, and sharp scissors.

The Simple Process:

Make a Gazillion Pom Poms: This is the most time-consuming part, but it’s mindless and perfect for doing while watching TV! Use a pom pom maker, cardboard donuts, or even just your fingers to make tight, dense pom poms. You’ll need enough to cover your entire mat base.

Prepare the Base: If your mat doesn’t have holes, use a sharp tool like an awl or a large needle to punch evenly spaced holes in a grid pattern across the canvas.

Get Tying! Take each pom pom and, using the long tails you left when tying it off, thread them through a hole in the mat. Pull them tight and knot them securely on the underside. Pack the pom poms close together for a lush, full look.

The result is a super soft, textural, and completely unique mat that’s too cute to step on!
