How to Make Blue Fairy Wings for a Fancy Dress Competition
Creating fairy wings is easier than you think, and the result is so much more impressive than store-bought! I crafted a pair for my daughter’s book week, and she won first prize for originality.

You’ll need: Wire coat hangers (2), blue sheer fabric (like organza), glitter, glue, and elastic.

The Simple Process:

Shape the Wire: Untwist and straighten the hangers. Bend them into matching wing shapes (classic fairy or dragonfly style). Cross and twist the straight ends together in the center to form the base.

Attach the Fabric: Lay the sheer fabric over one wing shape. Use strong glue or a hot glue gun to carefully adhere the fabric to the wire frame, trimming the excess. Repeat for the second wing.

Add Sparkle: Paint a design on the fabric with glue and sprinkle generously with blue and silver glitter. Shake off the excess.

Wear Them: Attach two lengths of elastic to the center twist to create arm loops.

They’re lightweight, magical, and perfectly unique.
