How to Make a Guldasta from a Recycled Plastic Bottle
Turn trash into a stunning floral centerpiece! Making a guldasta (flower bouquet) from plastic bottles is a brilliant, eco-friendly craft. I made a vibrant set for my balcony, and they withstand sun and rain perfectly.
You’ll need: A plastic bottle, scissors, acrylic paints, a candle, and wire for stems.
Let’s create:
Cut Petals: Cut the bottom off the bottle. Then, cut the cylindrical body into vertical strips, about 1-2 inches wide. Round the top of each strip to form a petal shape.
Shape with Heat: Carefully! Hold each petal near a candle flame (don’t let it touch). The plastic will curl and warp naturally, creating realistic, organic curves. Adult supervision is a must!
Assemble the Flower: Layer several petal pieces, gluing them together at the base. The bottle’s cap becomes the flower’s center. Paint your blossoms with vibrant acrylics and attach them to wire stems wrapped in green tape.
Group them in a vase for a permanent, upcycled bouquet that’s sure to start conversations.
