How to Make a Night Lamp from Recycled Cardboard
Forget thinking cardboard is just for boxes! In my experience, it’s one of the most versatile crafting materials. I remember making a geometric lamp for my desk, and the effect of the light shining through the layered edges was stunning. It’s an eco-friendly and seriously stylish project.
You’ll need: A cardboard box, a craft knife, a ruler, a glue gun, an LED tea light (never use a real candle!), and a pen.
The Simple Process:
Design Your Shape: Sketch a simple, repeating pattern—like triangles or hexagons—on cardboard. Geometric shapes work best for structural integrity.
Cut & Layer: Cut out dozens of identical shapes. This is the meditative part! Layer and glue them together, slightly offsetting each piece to create a cool, 3D honeycomb effect.
Hollow it Out: Leave the center hollow for your light source. Assemble the pieces around a core, building upwards.
Finish & Light Up: Place your safe, battery-operated LED light inside. The light will glow through the gaps between the cardboard layers, creating a warm, ambient vibe perfect for a bedside table.
