Doormat from Waste Materials
This is one of my favorite sustainable crafts! Instead of buying a new coir mat, look at what you already have. Old towels are a goldmine. Cut them into strips and latch-hook them onto a piece of plastic or sturdy mesh canvas. The terry cloth texture is super absorbent.

You can also use discarded cotton t-shirts, cut into t-shirt yarn (or “tarn”). Weave them on a simple loom or even a discarded wire shelf for a rag rug style mat. I made one for my patio, and it’s held up for two seasons now. It’s a fantastic way to give fabric scraps a final, useful life before recycling. What textiles are sitting in your closet right now that could get a second chance?
