Hand Embroidery Dori Button Neck Design
This technique is pure magic for adding boho-chic charm. “Dori” simply means cord, and here, we use embroidered loops as functional buttons. It’s easier than it looks!
Create the Loops: On one side of the neck placket, embroider a line of blanket stitches. Make them large and evenly spaced.
Make the “Buttons”: On the opposite placket, don’t make actual buttons. Instead, use a thick thread or a thin, pre-made cord. Form a small, tight coil and stitch it securely in place to act as the button. A French knot made with 6 strands of floss also works perfectly.
The Magic: The blanket stitch loops hook over the knotted “buttons.” This design is adjustable, beautiful, and adds incredible handmade character to any kurti or shirt. It’s a beautiful detail that always gets compliments.
