Loom flowers are incredibly addictive to make, and joining them into a mat is such a rewarding project. It’s a fantastic way to use up yarn scraps, and the result is a unique, squishy mat that’s perfect for beside your bed or as a cozy wall hanging.
My go-to method is super simple:
You’ll need: A yarn needle, a loom kit (the flower-shaped ones are perfect), and various colors of worsted weight yarn.
Make the Flowers: Follow your loom instructions to create multiple identical flowers. I find making 12-15 makes a nice small mat.
The Joining Secret: Instead of just stitching them together, I like to use a simple slip stitch join with a contrasting yarn color. It creates a lovely defined border around each flower and makes the mat sturdier.
Pro Tip: Arrange all your flowers on the floor first to decide on your color pattern. Then, just sew them together through the back loops of the outer petals. It’s a perfect mindful activity to do while watching TV!
