How to Make a Recycled Newspaper Flower Vase at Home
I’m a huge fan of upcycling, and this newspaper vase is one of my favorite weekend projects. It’s surprisingly sturdy and has a unique, rustic texture that looks great with both fresh and dried flowers.

You’ll need: Newspapers, white glue, a balloon, and paint (optional).

Let’s get crafting:

Create the Base: Blow up a balloon to your desired vase size. This will be your mold.

The Papier-Mâché Mix: Tear newspapers into strips. Mix one part glue with one part water. Dip each strip into the mix, slide off the excess, and layer them onto the bottom half of the balloon. Create 3-4 layers for strength.

Dry & Shape: Let it dry completely overnight. Pop the balloon! You’ll have a beautiful, rounded vase form. You can now trim the top edge with scissors to make it even.

Finish: For a waterproof interior, line the inside with a small glass jar or plastic container. Leave it plain for a newsprint look, or paint the outside with acrylic paint. I love a matte black or a bold, solid color for a modern pop.
