Large wall decor with lighting using cardboard

Who says luxury wall art has to be expensive? You can create a stunning, oversized geometric piece with just cardboard, a string of fairy lights, and some paint. I made a hexagonal honeycomb piece for my studio, and it’s the first thing people notice!

Here’s the Plan:

Design: Choose a simple, repeating shape like hexagons, triangles, or diamonds. Cut out multiple identical pieces from sturdy cardboard.

Assemble: Glue the pieces together in your chosen pattern, creating a 3D honeycomb effect. Use a hot glue gun for a strong, instant bond.

Incorporate Light: Poke small holes in the faces of some of the geometric shapes. Weave a string of battery-operated fairy lights through the back, pushing the bulbs gently through the holes.

Finish: Paint the entire structure a uniform color. A matte black, white, or metallic gold makes the light peeking through look incredibly modern and sophisticated.

It’s a statement piece that adds ambiance and texture to any room, all on a tiny budget.
