How to Make a Bird from Wooden Sticks
This is such a charming, rustic craft! With just a handful of popsicle sticks (or foraged twigs for a more natural look), some glue, and paint, you can create adorable decorative birds.
Start with the body: This is usually 4-5 sticks glued together in a slightly fanned pattern to create a rounded, dimensional shape. The head can be a single cut stick or a small pom-pom. The key to personality is in the details: Use a tiny bead for an eye, a sliver of orange felt for a beak, and delicate feathers for a tail. I love making a flock of these in different colors and hanging them from a branch as a mobile. It’s a perfect project to do with kids!
It has long dreamed to buy a bird of happiness, but as I sawed, I decided to try out the plywood. That’s the bird I did. Swipe 43 cm wings.
