Want to add a dash of drama to a basic top or kurta? Slit sleeves are your answer! This is one of the easiest design hacks that has a huge impact. In my experience, it works on almost any sleeve type.
The 10-Minute Sleeve Transformation:
Mark the Slit: Put on the top. On the outer seam of the sleeve, mark how high you want the slit to go (e.g., 4 inches up from the cuff).
Cut: Take the top off and lay the sleeve flat. Carefully cut open the outer seam up to your mark.
Finish the Edges: Fold the raw edges of the slit under by about ¼ inch and press. Then, edgestitch them down to create a clean, finished opening.
Add a Button (Optional): For a chic detail, sew a button at the top of the slit on the front side and a thread loop on the back. This lets you adjust how much sleeve you want to flash!
It’s an incredibly easy cutting and stitching technique that gives any top a modern, designer feel.
