Stylish double layer kurti making
A double layer kurti is my go-to design for adding depth, movement, and a high-fashion feel to a simple outfit. It’s easier to make than it looks and is incredibly versatile for all seasons.
The Simple Technique:
The secret isn’t sewing two full kurtis! It’s about attaching a shorter, contrasting layer over a full-length base kurti.
Sew the Base: First, stitch a full-length, basic straight-cut kurti.
Create the Overlay: Cut a second kurti, but much shorter—ending at the hip or thigh. You can use a sheer fabric like chiffon or a solid color that pops.
Attach: Align the shoulder seams of the overlay with the base kurti. Carefully stitch them together at the neckline and armholes, treating them as one layer. The rest of the overlay flows freely.
This creates a beautiful, flowing effect without the bulk of two full garments.
