DIY How to Reuse Old Waste CD and Plastic Bottle Wall Hanging | Woolen Jhumar / craft idea out of wool #DotsDIY #Crafts #Woolen #DIY
This project is the ultimate in “best out of waste”—transforming two of the most common household trash items into a stunning, light-catching mobile. I hung one in my sunny kitchen window, and the rainbows it casts around the room are absolutely magical.
The concept is to create a cascading “mobile” of shapes:
The CDs: Their iridescent surface is the star. Don’t paint over it entirely! Instead, use glass paint or permanent markers to draw partial designs—like mandala patterns or geometric lines—that still allow the rainbow effect to shine through. Punch a hole at the top of each CD for hanging.
The Plastic Bottles: Cut the bottoms off clear plastic bottles. These can also be painted from the inside with a thin coat of acrylic paint mixed with glue (so it remains slightly translucent). Then, use scissors to cut the plastic into spiral shapes or flower shapes. Heat them slightly with a hair dryer to curl the plastic for a more organic look.
Assemble: Use fishing line or clear thread to create a cascading effect. Hang the painted CD at the top. From its bottom, hang several plastic bottle flowers or spirals at different lengths. The clear thread will make them appear to float.
This hanging art piece plays with light, texture, and movement, creating a dynamic and eco-friendly focal point for any room. It’s a perfect testament to the beauty of upcycling.
