Satin Ribbon Rose Design on Kurti

Adding a satin ribbon rose to your kurti is one of the easiest ways to inject a dose of 3D luxury. It looks intricate but is surprisingly simple. I often teach this in my beginner workshops because the results are so stunning.

Here’s a quick guide to creating a basic ribbon rose:

Thread your needle with a coordinating thread and anchor it on the wrong side of the fabric where you want the rose’s center.

Take your satin ribbon (I recommend 1/2 inch to 1 inch wide) and bring the needle up through the center of the ribbon.

Create the center: Make a small, tight fold in the ribbon and take a tiny stitch to secure it. This is your bud.

Form the petals: Now, simply loop the ribbon around the bud, twisting it slightly with each loop and taking a small stitch at the base to secure each “petal.” Continue until the rose is your desired size.

Secure it: To finish, take your needle to the back and knot it securely.

Cluster a few of these near the shoulder or down the placket for a beautiful, handcrafted touch.
