Handmade bed sheet and pillow covers
There’s nothing like the feeling of sleeping on bedding you made yourself. It’s easier than you think, and you get to choose the exact fabric, pattern, and colors you love. I made my first set from soft, printed cotton, and it completely transformed my bedroom.
The Simple Steps to Custom Bedding:
Measure & Cut: For a flat sheet, measure your mattress and add extra for tuck-in and hems. For pillow covers, measure your pillow form and add 1 inch for seam allowance on all sides.
Sew with French Seams: For a super-professional and durable finish that hides all raw edges, use French seams. This involves sewing the wrong sides together first, trimming the seam, then sewing the right sides together to encase the raw edge.
Easy Enclosure: For the pillow cover, create an envelope closure by overlapping two back panels. It’s much easier than installing a zipper and looks just as neat.
This project is not only rewarding but also allows you to create a cohesive, personalized look for your bedroom that no store-bought set can match.
