That stunning pair of palazzo pants can be transformed in seconds with a simple potli (gathering) detail at the ankle. It’s a huge trend right now, adding a bohemian, custom-tailored look to any outfit. Best of all, you don’t need to be a master tailor!
My Favorite Simple Method:
Try On & Mark: Put on your palazzo. From the inside, pinch a small section of the fabric at the inner and outer ankle seam. Secure each pinch with a safety pin. This shows you where to create the gather.
The Secret Weapon: Elastic! Cut a piece of thin elastic about 4-5 inches long. Thread a hand-sewing needle and knot the end.
Create the Gather: From the inside of the pant leg, make a small stitch at one pin mark. Slide the needle through a few threads of the fabric, then slide on the elastic. Make another small stitch at the other pin mark, slide the needle through more elastic, and stitch back again.
Secure: Pull the thread to gather the fabric and knot it securely on the inside. The elastic inside allows for movement and a comfortable fit. Repeat on the other leg.
You’ve just created a beautiful, professional-looking potli design!
