How to Make a Newspaper Wall Hanging
Who knew old newspapers could become stunning art? I made a large geometric piece for my home office, and it’s the first thing people comment on. It’s a fantastic way to be creative and eco-friendly.

You’ll need: Newspapers, glue (mod podge is perfect), paint/ink (optional), and a base (canvas or sturdy cardboard).

Let’s create:

Choose Your Technique:

Rolling: Roll sheets of newspaper tightly around a skewer, glue the end down, and create dozens of these “sticks.” You can then glue them together to form patterns like sunbursts, mountains, or abstract shapes.

Folding: Fold newspaper into shapes like origami cranes, hearts, or simple folded rolls. Arranging a cluster of these in a shadow box looks incredible.

Arrange & Glue: Play with your rolled or folded pieces on your canvas until you find a design you love. Then, glue each piece down securely.

The Finishing Touch: You can leave it with the classic newspaper print look for a rustic, typographic feel. Or, get creative! Dry brush with white paint for a shabby-chic effect, or dip the ends in ink for an ombre color splash. Seal everything with a layer of mod podge to protect it.

This project is so versatile. You can make it match any color scheme and any style, from modern to bohemian.
