How to Make a Handmade Pop-Up Card
Forget store-bought cards! A handmade pop-up card is a delightful surprise that shows you really care. I made a simple heart pop-up for my best friend last year, and she said it was the best part of her birthday. The best part? It’s easier than it looks.

The Secret is in the Mechanism. The most classic and easy pop-up is the “angled” or “V-fold” mechanism.

Here’s How to Do It:

The Base: Fold a piece of cardstock in half to form your card.

The Pop-Up Piece: Cut a separate small rectangle. Fold it in half to create a sharp crease.

The Magic Cut: On your main card, make two small parallel cuts (about 1 inch long) in the center of the inner fold. Push this tab inward to form a mountain fold.

Attach Your Design: Glue one half of your small folded rectangle to this mountain fold and the other half to your chosen design (a heart, a star, a birthday cake).

Close It Up: When you close the card, the design will fold flat. When you open it, it will pop right up!

Pro Tip: Use contrasting papers for your pop-up element and the card base. This adds a professional, designer touch that’s totally on-trend.
