How to Make Sandals for Your Cutie
Making baby sandals is a heartfelt way to celebrate those tiny, precious feet. I crafted a pair for my best friend’s baby shower, and they became a cherished keepsake. The best part? You likely have the supplies already.
You’ll Need:
Sole Template: Trace your little one’s foot onto sturdy cardboard or craft foam.
Straps: Use soft elastic, wide ribbon, or even old leather gloves for buttery-soft straps.
Embellishments: Felt flowers, cute buttons (ensure they are VERY secure), or fabric paint.
The Simple Process:
Cut two sole shapes from your material. If using cardboard, you might want to glue two layers together for sturdiness.
Plan the Straps: A simple T-strap is easiest. You’ll need one strap across the ankle and one from the front of the foot meeting the ankle strap.
Assemble: Punch small holes on the sides of the sole where the straps will go. Thread the straps through, adjusting for a snug but comfortable fit, and secure them with strong glue or by stitching them in place on the underside.
Decorate! This is where you get creative. Glue on a small felt flower where the straps meet.
Safety First: Always supervise your cutie while they’re wearing homemade shoes and avoid any small parts that could become a choking hazard. These are best for photo ops or gentle play.
Want to make cute little sandal to your cutie pie!!! Let’s try over it. Materials we need for that are simple and easily available. A sheet of leather ( available in shops ), designed cloth, velcro.
Fix the velcro on the strap portion of the sandals.
Now it’s time to stitch our little sandals. Sew the pieces together as shown.
