New Neck Dori Hand Stitch Embroidery Designs
‘Dori’ (cord) work is having a major moment, and for good reason. It adds incredible texture and a bohemian, handcrafted feel to any neckline. I’ve been experimenting with thick cotton gota cords and the results are so rustic and beautiful.

This isn’t about machine-made perfection; it’s about organic, artistic expression.

Simple & Effective Design Ideas:

The Wrapped Neckline: Take a long, thick cord and simply whip-stitch it along the entire finished edge of the neckline. It creates a beautiful, defined border that looks great on kurtas and tops.

Freeform Lattice: Instead of following the neckline, create a small, geometric lattice or web design off to one shoulder. Use a simple backstitch to secure the cord where it overlaps.

Tassel & Dori Combo: Embroider a few vertical lines of cord hanging down from the neckline and finish each one with a small, hand-wrapped tassel. It’s playful and full of movement.

The best part? You can use any sturdy cord you have—jute, cotton, or even unraveled yarn from an old sweater. It’s all about texture.
