How to Sew a Creative Neck Design
The neckline is the focal point of any top, and a creative design can make it look designer-level. My favorite easy hack? The keyhole neck with a tie.
It’s simpler than it looks:
Cut: Draft your front pattern piece as normal. Now, at the center front neck point, draw a small vertical slit (about 2-3 inches long).
Finish: Finish the raw edges of this slit with bias tape or a simple fold-and-stitch. This is the “keyhole.”
Add the Tie: Create a long fabric tube, turn it right-side out, and press it. Hand-stitch one end of this tie to one side of the keyhole on the inside of the garment.
It’s a flattering detail that adds a touch of boho charm to any simple t-shirt or blouse.
