Mirror work, or Shisha embroidery, adds incredible sparkle and traditional charm to any fabric. It looks complex, but I promise, it’s easier than you think! I taught a beginner’s workshop last month, and everyone was stunned by their own results.
The Simple Buttonhole Stitch Method:
Place the Mirror: Put a small mirror or reflective piece on your fabric.
Secure It: Use a simple buttonhole stitch to encase the edge. Come up right next to the mirror, loop the thread around the edge, and go back down.
Create a Web: Continue making stitches all the way around until the mirror is securely held in place. The stitches can be tight and uniform or looser for a more organic look.
Embellish: Add decorative stitches or beads around the mirror to integrate it into your design.
Mirror embroidery, also known as shisha embroidery, involves the use of small mirrors (and other objects) for clothes using decorative sewing. Shisha sewing is easy to learn and enjoy using! The basic concept of mirror embroidery is simple: the end of the foundation is arranged on the mirror, and then decorative sewing is attached to the foundation of the foundation and is attached to the fabric.
