Elephant made using a waste oil bottle

Don’t toss that empty plastic oil bottle! With a little creativity, you can upcycle it into a charming elephant statue for your home or garden. This is a fun project to do with kids and a great conversation starter.

Sculpt Your Elephant:

The Body: A large, sturdy oil bottle (like a 1-liter canola oil bottle) is perfect for the body.

The Trunk & Ears: The handle of the bottle often makes a perfect raised trunk! For the ears, cut the shape from the leftover plastic from another bottle or use cardboard. Attach them with hot glue.

Paint & Details: Prime with white spray paint, then use grey acrylic paint for the body. Once dry, use a black marker to draw on kind eyes and other details.

It’s a wonderful example of how to see potential in everyday waste and create something joyful.

There are so many great ways to reuse your plastic oil bottles and keep them out of the landfill. Pop bottles, water bottles, vinegar bottles, juice bottles, and milk jugs can all be reused in creative ways.
