How to embroider a silk ribbon blackthorn flower arrangement for saree

Silk ribbon embroidery adds a stunning, three-dimensional luxury to a saree’s pallu or border. The Blackthorn flower, with its delicate white blossoms on dark branches, is a gorgeous and symbolic choice (it represents hope and resilience).

A Beginner-Friendly Approach:

Transfer the Design: Lightly trace a few winding branches onto your saree’s fabric using a water-soluble pen.

Embroider the Branches: Use a single strand of dark brown or black embroidery floss and a simple stem stitch to create the thin, twisting branches.

Create the Blossoms: This is where the magic happens! Thread a needle with white or very pale pink 4mm silk ribbon. Bring the needle up through the fabric where you want a flower. Now, form a small loop (a lazy daisy stitch) and push the needle down right next to where you came up, securing the loop to form a petal. Make 5 tiny loops in a circle to form one flower.

Add Leaves: Use green silk ribbon to make small, straight stitches or leaf stitches alongside the branches.

The result is a soft, romantic, and incredibly elegant design that looks far more complex than it actually is.
