Today we are making Fantasy Flower Stitch.
This isn’t your grandma’s embroidery! Fantasy flowers are all about creating whimsical, non-existent blooms using a mix of basic stitches. It’s incredibly freeing and creative.
Create Your Own Bloom:
Start with a French Knot: Make a cluster of 5-7 French knots in one color to form a textured center.
Add “Petals”: Now, use a contrasting color to make Lazy Daisy stitches radiating out from the center. Vary the lengths and angles.
Fill it Out: Add a few straight stitches in a third color between the daisy stitches for more depth. Maybe even add a few seed beads for extra sparkle!
There are no rules. The goal is to create a flower from your imagination. I love teaching this stitch because it encourages embroiderers to play and find their own unique style.
