Cute Flip Flops from Ribbon
Give a pair of plain, cheap flip-flops a total glam-over in under 30 minutes! This is my go-to summer craft—it’s ridiculously easy and the payoff is huge.

Here’s the super simple process:

Pick Your Ribbon: Grab about 1.5 yards of a gorgeous grosgrain or satin ribbon (¾ inch wide is perfect). This is your chance to pick a pattern that matches your favorite summer outfits perfectly.

Remove the Old Straps: Flip the flip-flop over. You’ll see the strap ends plugged into the sole. Carefully pry these plugs out with a small screwdriver or scissors—they usually pop right out.

Attach the New Ribbon: Pull the old straps out. Take your ribbon and feed it through the toe post and then through the sole holes, replicating the path of the original strap. Pro tip: Put a tiny dot of hot glue on the ribbon end to make it stiffer and easier to thread.

Secure and Enjoy: Try the flip-flop on and adjust for comfort. When it’s right, tie a secure knot underneath the sole and trim the excess. Hot glue the knot flat and pop the plastic plugs back in to hide everything.
