Hand Embroidery Beautiful Border flower stitch for hand work – Step By Step (Tutorial)
A delicate flower vine border can elevate anything—from a kurta hem to a pillowcase. My absolute favorite for beginners is the Lazy Daisy Stitch. It’s simple, versatile, and creates the prettiest little floral chain.
Here’s how to create a continuous border:
What you need: Embroidery hoop, thread (I recommend Anchor or DMC cotton), needle, and fabric.
The Stem: Use a simple stem stitch or backstitch to create a flowing line for your vine.
The Flower (Lazy Daisy): Come up at point A (where you want the flower’s center). Now, go back down right next to A, but don’t pull the thread all the way through. Leave a loop.
Secure the Petal: Bring your needle up at point B, outside the loop. Pull gently, and then take a small stitch over the loop to anchor it down. That’s one petal!
Build the Bloom: Create 5-6 petals in a circle, all anchored to the same center point (A). Add a French knot in the center for dimension.
Pro Tip: Vary your flower sizes and colors! Add small leaves using a simple fishbone stitch between the flowers. I often mix lazy daisies with tiny satin-stitch leaves for a beautiful, textured border.
