Hand Embroidery: Easy Stitch Neckline Net Embroidery
Adding embroidery to a net neckline is a gorgeous way to add elegance without weight. I recently did this on a sheer net overlay for a client’s anarkali, and the delicate effect was breathtaking. The secret is to keep the stitches simple and elegant.

The perfect stitch for beginners is the Backstitch. It’s simple, strong, and creates a beautiful, continuous line that’s perfect for outlining patterns on net.

Here’s how to nail it:

Stabilize: Hoop your net fabric with a water-soluble stabilizer behind it. This is non-negotiable; it provides the tension needed to stitch on sheer fabric without puckering.

Trace a Design: Lightly draw a simple design on the stabilizer—think flowing vines, little leaves, or tiny flowers.

Stitch: Come up through the fabric at (1), go down at (2), then come back up at (3), which should be a space ahead of (1). Go down again at (1), effectively going “back” to create a continuous line. Repeat!

The Reveal: Once you’re finished, gently rinse the stabilizer away with cool water. Let it air dry, and you’ll be left with perfectly crisp embroidery on the net.

It’s a simple technique with a profoundly beautiful result.
