Neckline Embroidery: Lazy Daisy Stitch for Kurthi Neck
The Lazy Daisy stitch is my go-to for adding quick, delicate florals to a kurthi neckline. It’s essentially a single chain stitch that’s left loose to form a petal shape, and it’s ridiculously easy to master. I often teach this first in my workshops because the results are so rewarding.
How to Create a Floral Sprig:
Create the Petals: Come up at (1) where you want the tip of your petal to be. Now, go back down at (1) but don’t pull the thread all the way through—leave a loop on the surface. Come up at (2), a short distance away, catching the loop. Pull through, and then go back down at (2) to secure the loop, forming a perfect petal.
Build a Flower: Make 5-6 lazy daisy petals in a circle to form a simple flower.
Add a Center: Put a French knot or a small bead in the center of your flower.
Connect with Vines: Use a simple stem stitch to draw vines between your flowers, adding leaves with small straight stitches.
This stitch creates a feminine, garden-fresh look that’s perfect for spring and summer kurtis.
