Design Your Sari/Stole with Hanging Tassels & Edging Beads
Want to transform a plain sari or stole into a bohemian masterpiece? Adding your own tassels and beaded edging is my favorite way to inject personality and movement into a outfit. I turned a simple chiffon stole into a statement piece for a wedding, and it was a huge hit!
The key is in the details. Don’t just buy generic trim. Recent trends from designers like Raw Mango and Anavila focus on organic, handcrafted elements.
Tassel Talk: Make your own tassels with embroidery floss or silk thread for a perfect color match. Vary their length and density for a dynamic, artistic fringe.
Beaded Magic: Instead of a continuous line of beads, try clustering them. Use a needle and strong thread to stitch small groups of seed beads, pearls, or even tiny bells along the pallu or stole’s edge, spacing them out between tassels.
The Process: Plan your pattern on a flat surface. Hand-stitch each tassel securely to the fabric’s corner. For beads, use a backstitch to create a strong anchor line for your clusters. The result is a uniquely yours, high-fashion accessory.
