How to Make 3D Paper Ball using old Cards for Decoration

Christmas ball of old cards. It is not far off that day when we will decorate the New Year tree. You can, of course, decorate it with traditional glass toys, but you can approach this process creatively, and make a New Year’s ball with your own hands . As an article for kindergarten, this ball is also quite suitable.

You can make such balls with the child, – he is interested in your help, especially if you want to make a few balls – you can circle and cut.
In my master class I want to show you how you can make a beautiful Christmas tree ball from old postcards. Usually, these balls are beautiful and, thanks to the sparkles on some postcards, they shine or shimmer on the Christmas tree.

So, for the manufacture of such a ball we will need:
– postcards (it is possible and color cardboard) – 6-8 pieces;
– a simple pencil;
– thread;
– scissors.

Step # 1. Template.
To get started, we need to do this pattern.

Draw it on cardboard and cut it out.

Step number 2. Make the fragments of the ball using the template.
We circle the pattern on postcards and cut it out.

For a ball it is necessary to make 12 such fragments.

Step # 3. We make incisions of “petals”.

In each fragment, you need to make an incision approximately to the middle (you can slightly more) of the petal.

ATTENTION! It is important to make all the cuts in one direction (clockwise or counterclockwise), otherwise the ball will not be collected.

Step # 4. We collect the ball.
After the previous steps are performed, we begin the assembly.
We fix the two fragments first, and then attach the others to them.
