Orchids look intricate, but they’re surprisingly simple to mimic with crepe paper! Their exotic, elegant shape makes them a stunning decor piece. I made a few for a friend’s birthday centerpiece, and everyone thought they were real!
Your Step-by-Step Guide:
Gather Supplies: You’ll need white and yellow crepe paper, floral wire, green floral tape, scissors, and a hot glue gun.
Cut the Petals: Orchids have a distinctive shape. Cut 5 large, rounded petals from white crepe paper. Cut one unique, cup-shaped petal (the “lip” or labellum) from yellow paper.
Shape Them: Gently stretch the edges of the white petals to create a natural, slightly ruffled curve. Pinch the yellow lip petal in the center to give it dimension.
Assemble the Bloom: Attach the five white petals around a small ball of glued paper at the top of your floral wire. Then, glue the yellow lip petal in the center, letting it droop slightly.
Finish the Stem: Wrap the entire wire stem with green floral tape.
The key is to embrace the orchid’s imperfect perfection. No two will be exactly alike, which adds to their charm!

Grab pieces of crepe paper and create you own fancy orchid flower. Your final product can be arranged as suggested in the last part of this video or you can set up a cascading style depending on your preference.
