How to Make a Flower Pop-Up Card for Valentine’s Day
Forget store-bought cards! A handmade pop-up card is a treasure. I made one for my partner last year, and he still has it on his desk. The magic is in the simple paper engineering.

You’ll Need: Cardstock, scissors, glue, and a ruler.

The Simple V-Fold Method:

Fold your cardstock in half to form the card.

Cut a small rectangle from another piece of cardstock for your pop-up element. Fold this rectangle in half.

On the folded edge of this small rectangle, cut two parallel slits about an inch long and half an inch apart. Push the tab you created inside the fold to form a 90-degree angle. This is your pop-up mechanism.

Unfold the small rectangle and glue the flat, non-tab sides onto the inside of your card, lining up the folds.

Now, glue your paper flower (or a heart!) firmly onto the pop-up tab. Close the card, then open it to see your flower magically stand up.

Personalize it: Write a sweet message on the pop-up tab itself, so it reveals itself slowly as the card is opened. It’s a guaranteed heart-melter.
