Multi Combination Flower Tutorial
Why stick to one type of flower when you can create a stunning, textured bouquet using multiple techniques? I love teaching this in my workshops because it allows for so much creativity. Combining different flowers adds incredible depth and visual interest to wreaths, arrangements, or hair accessories.

Here’s how to think about it:

The Focal Flower: Start with a larger, bold flower as your centerpiece. A large rolled fabric rose or a big pom-pom flower works perfectly here.

The Supporting Blooms: Add medium-sized flowers around your focal point. Try DIY kanzashi (folded fabric) flowers or simple 5-petal felt flowers.

The Filler: This is where the magic happens! Use smaller pom-poms, French knot clusters (for embroidery), or tiny felt blossoms to fill in any gaps and create a lush, professional look.

Pro Tip: Use a shared color palette but different textures and sizes. For example, make all your flowers in shades of cream and blush, but use satin, felt, and yarn. The monochromatic scheme ties it all together while the textures make it exciting.

Why stick to one flower type? The most stunning artificial arrangements mix different textures and styles. I call this the “Garden Patch” method—it looks complex but is incredibly easy.

Build Your Bouquet:

Choose Your Textures: Combine at least 3 types:

A Focal Flower: One large, bold flower (e.g., a foam sunflower).

A Filler Flower: Several smaller, cluster flowers (e.g., baby’s breath made from tiny white beads).

Greenery: Some leaves and ferns (cut from green felt or paper).

Assemble in Layers: Start by attaching your greenery to a stem (a skewer or pipe cleaner). Then, add your filler flowers around it. Finally, secure your large focal flower at the center. Wrap the entire stem with floral tape.

This combination creates depth and makes your arrangement look professionally designed.
